Pressure washing or power washing is the use of high-pressure water spray to remove loose paint, mold, grime, dust, mud, and dirt from surfaces and objects such as buildings, vehicles and concrete surfaces.
There are two main types of pressure washers. Hot water pressure washers and cold water pressure washers. Each has their own purpose.
Cold water machines are most commonly used to wash concrete, asphalt flatwork, and organic growth.
Hot water pressure washers are best for washing grease or oil residue. They are best to use when cleaning parking garages, drive thru's, and gas stations.
Surface cleaners are a pressure-washing tool that allows the cleaning of larger surface areas. There are many models. A surface cleaner is made of a disc-shaped housing, a rotating swivel, and a set of bars attached to the swivel with nozzles at the end of the bar. The water enters the surface cleaner through a trigger gun at the top of the handlebar, travels through a hose, the swivel, and the bar and ends up passing through specifically sized nozzles to spray the surface and remove dirt and grime.
How often should you pressure wash your property?
Homeowners with vinyl, metal, or composite siding should pressure wash their homes once a year. If you have wood siding, we recommend you pressure wash only when you have dirt or mildew buildup, unless you use very gentle pressure to wash away pollen or cobwebs on an annual basis.
Experts agree that spring or fall is the best time to pressure or power wash your house. The goal is to avoid cleaning when the temperature is too cold or hot. The best practice is to ensure that you pressure wash your home once per year between March and November when the temperatures are not extreme.
Some of the most common surfaces that need to be pressure washed are Patios, Decks, driveways, retaining walls, and walkways
