Introducing Soft Washing; a light detergent treatment to treat and maintain your siding and roof. Soft washing also helps you avoid damaging your roof shingles.
Soft washing is a cleaning method using low-pressure water. It is used to describe any form of spraying chemicals at buildings where solutions are used to remove mildew, bacteria, algae and other organic stains from roofs and other building exteriors.
It is so named to differentiate the method from power washing. The Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association recommends low-pressure bleach or detergent-assisted washing as the preferred method for cleaning asphalt roofs in order to prevent damage to the shingles.
Soft Washing is a low-pressure washing technique that uses a combination of soaps, sodium hypochlorite and water to clean exterior surfaces, such as roofs, siding, fences, driveways and sidewalks, without damaging the surface.
As an example, Vinyl, Cedar Shake or Wood Panel Siding are easily damaged by high-pressure water. Soft washing, on the other hand, effectively cleans contaminants such as dirt, mold, and mildew from these surfaces. For this reason, it is better to use the soft washing method on vinyl, cedar shake, and wood panel siding. Not only does the soft washing method clean surfaces, such as your roof, deck, patio, siding, or fence, safely and thoroughly, but it also maintains paint and masonry longer.
How often should you soft wash your house?
Realistically, the frequency with which you should wash your home depends a lot on where you live and your surroundings. Some homeowners may need to wash their home every 6 months, though generally it's recommended to clean the exterior of your home at least once every year.
Another reason why spring is a great time of year to wash your house is due to the temperature. It is much easier and more efficient to clean a house on a cool spring day than on a hot summer day. This is also great as it allows us to use a little less water on cool spring days.
